How are you coping with the new Allergy Laws

March 1, 2015 by Derek Leave a Comment

How are you coping with the new Food Information for Consumers Regulation (1169/2011/EU) which became law on the 13th December last year?

We have come across businesses where they have grasped the nettle, done the research and have systems in place to cope with the challenge. Well done to them!

However, we also know of some who are struggling to cope and others who are hoping the law will just go away, or at least, not bother them too much!

If you are trying to cope or are hoping the problem will simply disappear we have some bad news and some good news for you.

The bad news is this, the problem is here to stay and you can’t afford to ignore the challenge. The good news is, we know of a system that can help to solve your problem – Allergy Audit.

Allergyaudit.com is a food allergy consultancy from Omagh, Co Tyrone, which has been set up by Dr. Ian Leitch, a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner. He has a wealth of experience in the Environmental Health Service, in food control and has worked for the Food Standards Agency, London on the development of food allergy training resources for food enforcement officers.

He was project manager for the Safefood, all Ireland food allergy training project which has trained almost 600 people in food allergen/intolerance management and was an expert adviser to the Anaphylaxis Campaign UK and Allergy NI.

Dr Leitch has developed the resources available on his site to help the retail and catering trade manage food allergy risks to benefit both you and your food allergic/food intolerant customers.

His Food Allergy Management Guide is available now to help businesses comply with the requirements of the new Food Information for Consumers Regulation (1169/2011/EU) which came into effect on the 13th December 2014.

You can see more information about the system or order it direct from his website – www.allergyaudit.com

Alternatively, if you would like further information, please use the “contact form” page to leave your email address or telephone number and Dr Leitch will reply as quickly as he can.
